OLTP turning v1

|

,

The OpenTelemetry Line Protocol released V1 this month which is an awesome milestone.

Release Release version 1.0.0 · open-telemetry/opentelemetry-proto (github.com)

This should provide the stability needed to push those last vendor hold outs to move to accept the OTLP formatted data directly.

There aren’t any real changes here, just the confidence that people get from a stable version of things.

What can we expect to see from here? Hopefully we’ll see the remaining vendors announce OTLP ingestion endpoints, and start to deprecate their previous SDKs and proprietary exporters. This will then be a catalyst for more vendors pushing their teams to commit back to OpenTelemetry and make it better.
