Book: Modern Distributed Tracing in .NET

This book is a must have if you’re trying to understand how to make your applications more understandable in production. Luidmila has covered all the things you need to know in much more depth, and you should be able to pace yourself quite well learning each of the things.  One of the things I like about it is that you should be able to read it as a technical book, without having to reach for code to validate your understanding. That’s because each of sections tackles the theory as with snippets of code there for understanding. I’d obviously suggest that you skip chapter 8 (logging) as who needs logs if you’ve got traces?

All in all, it’s a great book to dig deeper than APMs can into your application’s performance in production.
